The claims while very vague in exactly what programs have been successful in transfer seem to suggest that this is able to achieve the goal that otherwise would be a "General Rule of NO" just as you stated. Would be interesting if this works without causing problems to a new system such as corrupting the registry etc. Only things I have been able to do is convert their old system to a virtual machine for them to access the old system from the new system or tell them to search ebay for a new copy of the software to buy used etc. In the past this has been an issue with clients contacting me. It worked perfect back almost 20 years ago when selecting a folder or group of folders to transfer with a Master/Slave Serial or Parallel port Null Cable type link and set it to transfer and go for a coffee break while it transferred at the slow 1200 or 9600 baud etc between computers.įound this in the Cyber Week Specials on newegg and from its description it looks like a must have for easy data/software migrations, however I am kind of curious as to if this also works for transfer of programs from one system to another such as when a client tells me that they bought a new computer and want the software from the older computer transferred to the newer computer and they lost their original discs to the software, so they cant clean install it to the new computer. ![]() ![]() This was back when dealing with files that were either larger than could fit on a 1.44MB floppy disk without using a span utility as well as multiple files that would be a pain to copy manually to like 25 floppys via sneaker network, when home networks were not popular yet back in the days of dial-up. I used Laplink a long long time ago mid 1990s when it was for DOS Serial and Parallel port slow data transfers between computers. Anyone here ever use this software to comment on it as to if its good or junk?
